For the show broadcast between February 16th and February 22nd, 2008
Something out of the ordinary happened... we had a quick essay contest in the days prior to the show, and "The Voice" went in person to their home to deliver the reward (no, not like the Publisher guys). He was rewarded with a wonderful vegetarian dinner, which comprised of fried tofu (which sounded like beef fajitas to us), goopy tofu (he described it), and frozen tofu.
Amongst the many discussions, the crew covered the idea of how to clean your computer, laptop, or other device (with an odd suggestion for toothpaste on the pearly white Mac casing), but suggestions are to not floss or rinse. (grin!)
Also discussed was the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America, and the idea that Cary Sherman presented, regarding snooping on everyone's computer, and placing filters to prevent illegal copying. The consensus appeared to be that it was just too darn scary to even imagine the levels of intrusion involved to implement something like this. During the break, Benjamin was heard to say "They better keep their grubby mitts off my computer!"
Henry asked about the best password policies, specifically for routers. Keep it long for the WPA password, which is your encryption between the router and your computer.
James asked about the different versions of Windows, specifically in regards to Vista. Too many to count, and suffice it to say, stick with the one that does what you need it to do.
Discussions also covered
some shortcuts for
converting files...
pdf@koolwire.com
(converts Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint to PDS)
doc@koolwire.com
(converts PDFs to Word or
Rich Text Format)
mp3@koolwire.com
(converts WAV files to MP3)
wav@koolwire.com

Tim Keeler from the Tri Cities ROP program joined us in studio, and discussed some of the issues regarding video production.
