Show notes

For the show broadcast between February 14th and February 20th, 2009

This week Benjamin has a lot of interaction with listeners, as Kelly wrote in about her laptop pointer jumping around mid-sentence, Ed called in to discuss the future of computing, and Stephen asked about connecting a computer to his high-speed internet.

Well it seems that another change is coming down the pipe as a result of the economic downturn. The post office is cutting back from 6 days to 5 days of delivery. Additionally, May signals another price raise in stamps. So what does all of this mean for computers? Well, if Benjamin is right, it means more and more e-mail.

In other News, Kirk Douglas, famous movie actor, has become the oldest MySpace celebrity blogger, and yes, in case you were wondering, he is Spartacus.

Another celebrity made news recently as Bill Gates, corporate superstar turned philanthropist, made a shocking move at a technology conference. During a presentation on malaria, Gates released a swarm of mosquitoes on the crowd. Of course the mosquitoes didn’t have malaria, but he did wait about a minute before telling the panicked crowd that. Apparently leaving Microsoft has left him with way too much spare time on his hands.

Additionally, Benjamin interviewed Fred King, the Vice President of PlumChoice. This is a company that does Remote access IT support. What does this mean? Well… essentially it means that you give them the info on your computer, and they will access it from their offices and fix the problem while you sit back and watch on your monitor. This is a great new step in IT support. However, it’s not quite as helpful if you’re the infamous person calling about the broken cup holder in your computer.

In other news, it appears many Christian websites have dropped using GoDaddy as their domain after a large series or risqué advertisements from the domain host. The ads featured racer Danica Patrick making numerous innuendos and in the shower, something completely inappropriate for any demographic.
