For the show broadcast between March 14th and March 20th, 2009
This week Benjamin went through some old AT&T commercials that had their view of the future, like touch pad computing, toll roads without stopping, video phones and conferencing, and many other things which modern technology has made possible, though AT&T predicted them in 1993, quite a long-term view. The ads can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZb0avfQme8.
In the news, the government’s coordinator of cybersecurity has resigned in protest to the NSA taking a central role in cybersecurity because he believes a civilian organization should be doing it.
This week Benjamin also interviewed Aaron from SafeEyes about their SafeEyesMobile product, which is a web filter for mobile devices. It is compatible not only with phones, but also with internet-capable devices like the iPod Touch. For more information, visit www.safeeyes.com.
With Easter approaching, Benjamin also brought up the topic of Lent, which is the 40 days before Easter where Catholics give up something such as chocolate, alcohol, or something not furthering the Kingdom of God. It has been noted that many people have decided to give up technological things like texting, Facebooking, etc. While some people simply cannot give up things like e-mail and cell phones because of business needs, Benjamin suggests getting away for a day without those things to just pray and read. Find a park, relax, etc.
In the Contacts department, Benjamin received a frantic call from Mike about a coffee spill on his MacBook, which Benjamin sympathized with because he had lost a laptop to coffee as well. Additionally, Victor wrote in asking about recovering deleted images from a camera’s memory card.
Lastly, this week Benjamin brought us a review of Dwayne Johnson’s new Disney film, Race to Witch Mountain. For the review, please tune into the show audio below.
