For the show broadcast between April 25th and May 1st, 2009
This week Benjamin brought us all sorts of goodies on computers, such as the fact that a few iPhone users have found that they can tether their laptop using their iPhone. Essentially, what this means is that they can get laptop internet using their iPhones. Pretty cool, no?
Another thing Benjamin brought us is Dell’s new money making strategy: Twitter. How is that? Offer Twitter-exclusive deals to customers.
On another note, the TV transition from analog to digital is here. In fact, it happened. Some never noticed, some are unhappy, some don’t care... That’s all there is.
Then of course there’s Project Natal. No, this isn’t some military operation. It’s an Xbox program! Essentially, it’s the Microsoft answer to the Sony Playstation EyeToy which came out years and years ago, originally with the PS2. The Natal’s still a year out, but we’re hoping it’ll work really well.
Interestingly, MySpace has recently experienced a lot of layoffs recently, keeping up with the trend that MySpace is dying in the wake of the rise of Facebook.
With more in video games, sales for gaming have dropped to be their lowest in three years, despite Microsoft’s boasts and high hopes in the Christmas season.
Speaking of Microsoft, their last antitrust suit settlement went for $100 million. Just pocket change, right? Plus Windows 7 may push up the price on netbooks by about $100, still leaving them cheaper than a notebook.
And then, of course, there’s the new SD cards coming out. They won’t be THAT large though… only 64 Gigabytes! That’s enough for 32,000 pictures… Overkill much?
Each of these, however, was just a quicky, so if you have anything you’d like Benjamin to expand on, please just drop him a line.
Additionally, Benjamin talked about the latest response to Spam accusations, in which people are responding to companies and asking not to be spammed. The companies, in return, claim that the spam was part of a customer agreement and they have to accept the spam. WHAT!?
Fortunately, Microsoft has noticed the rise in spam, Trojans, malware, etc, and is promising a free Anti-virus in the future. Unfortunately, they have failed to acknowledge that most of these problems are caused by code errors by Microsoft themselves.
Benjamin also brought us news of the Pirate Party in Sweden, which is essentially a group of technological anarchists with a lot of support, something to follow closely.
Lastly, Daniel asked about speeding up his computer and Larry was Having problems getting drivers for his laptop.
