Show notes

For the show broadcast between March 13th and March  20th, 2010

This week, Benjamin spent some time on quick news features, like the Pennsylvania school district spying on their students,  as well as Tron, which led to Cisco’s unnecessarily fast router which will let you download all of iTunes in 2.5 minutes. Wow. Overkill?

Tasha wrote in asking about remote access of computers, Bart asked about his iPod which wouldn’t sync, and Francie asked about power adapters for her laptop. Additionally, David asked about recovering deleted images from a camera’s memory card.

This week, Benjamin interviewed Peter from Dragon, a natrually speaking web-tool that translates tspeech to text. These tools are quite useful, and help visually-impaired users access their computers, and also help out when you simply need a hand. (Ba dum pum.) See their website at http://www.nuance.com/.

Benjamin also spoke with Dan Holden from IBM, who works on their security research team, about staying safe on your computer. This large company is very influential in the technology world, from making chips to monitors, to really just about every type of computer product. See them at www.ibm.com.

In the third interview of the week, Benjamin and his son spoke with Doug Wright from Inspired Instruments, the company behind the YouRock guitar. This guitar is a digital instrument, with MIDI cables that allow you to play through your computer, but also has a mode to cancel out bad notes and is compatible with Rock Band and Guitar Hero. See the guitar at http://www.yourockguitar.com/.
