For the show broadcast between March 27th and April 2nd, 2010
This week Benjamin brought us an editorial on a very scary issue: microchipping the public. With microchips for tracking pets and some for payment in bars in Europe, enforced microchipping doesn’t seem far off. Now, this isn’t us being paranois here, this is a potential for major infringement upon personal rights, and the technology is here, all it needs is to be implemented.
Along a similar note, Benjamin talked about how computers are taking over people’s lives. From social networking and video games to business interactions, computers are involved in every part of out lives. While that’s all well and good, we have to be careful not to let them BECOME our lives.
On a more upbeat note, Benjamin and Benny interviewed Rob from Friendgiftr this week, a service that lets you send git cards via social networking sites. Though many sites, including Facebook, allow you to send digital gifts, there is no way to REALLY gift something to someone – until now. Check out http://www.friendgiftr.com/ for more info!
Lastly, Benjamin had a very in-depth interview with Marian from Norton about cybercminals and online threats. As we (hopefully) all know, the internet is a great place with many opportunities and gifts, but can be dangerous as well. Keep an eye out for scams and viruses, and always have an antivirus running!
For contacts, this week Benjamin got a call from Pierce about his computer failing to boot, Dave asked about running Office 97 on Windows 7, and Charlie asked about Adobe Reader not installing.
