This week, Macintosh overtook Microsoft as the world’s biggest technological company, despite lagging far behind in terms of computers. Because of the iPod, iPad, iPhone, and various other “I” gadgets, the company has become quite large. Microsoft still outsells Macintosh, but Mac’s highly-priced goods have allowed them to grow.

On a rather scary note, a scientist at the University of Reading been infected with a computer virus. Yes, that’s right, a computer virus. He had an RFID chip implanted in his hand a while back, and he saw the problems of the future coming. He worries that one day someone may discover a virus for a pacemaker, and so he decided to study human-borne computer viruses, by intentionally infecting himself with one.

Fortunately, this week was not all doom and gloom, as Benjamin discussed online shopping, particularly for glasses. You may already have bought clothes online, but you may not know that there are many other things available. For instance, glasses can be bought at www.zennioptical.com for very low prices.

With a helpful hint, Benjamin gave us some information on hooking up multiple monitors to your computer. It can be cheaper than buying one large monitor, and also provide more total space.  You may need to buy a new video card to support this functionality, but this is still a great option.

Additionally, he gave some basics about computers, ranging from information about the CPU itself to the Front Side Bus. There are many helpful tips here, as well as simple information about various parts of the computer. Tune in for the full info!

Benjamin also had some thoughts on things that may not survive the recession. These include walk-in movie rental stores and landline phones. Also on the list are Paid wi-fi and free tech support. Check out the audio to find out why.

Lastly, Benjamin discussed the Foundation Mission (www.freedomcalls.org), an organization which helps troops connect with their loved ones back home. By building a vast communications network, the Foundation Mission hopes to give troops access to VOIP calls. You can donate at www.freedomcalls.org.

In other news, LimeWire is talking about going into legitimate music sales, more news is developing in the Pennsylvania, and Verizon is hoping to acquire the iPhone later this year.

This week, Ebrahim asked a question about Yahoo Mail and Claudia asked about netbooks versus notebooks.
